Fund Distribution

With your financial help we are able to provide funding to support various local programs and services throughout our community. People contribute to the United Way because they know that one gift will go a long way.

EXACTLY WHERE DO THE FUNDS RAISED GO TO?

The money raised through our fundraising efforts is turned over to federally registered charities which have been designated by our donors, and also, our member agencies such as The Adult Learning Association, The Canadian National Institute for the Blind, The Canadian Paraplegic Association, Cape Breton Community Housing, Helpline, and Family Services of Eastern Nova Scotia, just to name a few. Over the years, the United Way of Cape Breton has put more then 15 million dollars back into the community by way of programs and services provided by local Health and Welfare agencies.

The following is a detailed breakdown of exactly what proportions of United Way's allocated funds support particular causes in our community:

- Enhancing the lives of adults with disabilities and seniors - 36%
- Helping Children and Youth Succeed - 24%
- Strengthening Families and Promoting Self-Sufficiency - 21%
- Building Vital and Safer Neighborhoods - 19%

WE MAKE SURE THAT THE MONEY RAISED IN CAPE BRETON STAYS IN CAPE BRETON

United Way volunteers take enormous pride in their contribution to the quality of life here on the island. Volunteers raise the money, deliver the services, make the decisions and allocate the campaign funds. The United way is building stronger communities in the CBRM, Richmond, Victoria, and Inverness Counties.
